TV ramble..
Jan. 24th, 2006 09:11 pmFor the last few years Hubby & I have had hardly any TV viewing in common. He's never sat down with me and watched an episode of ATS, BTVS, BSG, Without a Trace, Cold Case, 24, Farscape, Las Vagas, NCIS, Nip Tuck..... the exceptions being Stargate Atlantis and Lost.
In the last few weeks though, with the spate of new shows from accross the pond, that's been changing:-)
I got him to watch Bones, and to my surprise he watched the 2nd ep without me saying anything.. And now he's watched the premieres of Supernatural and Prison Break, both of which we'll tune into again.
So amongst all these is there any home grown programmes we watch together? Yes one..lol..and it's a gem :-) A new series called "Life On Mars " on the BBC. It's about a plain clothes Cop who gets knocked down and wakes up in 1973! He's still a Cop and the idea is, has he gone crazy?, is it a dream?, or has he really time travelled?
But what's really fascinating, funny and thought provoking to me is the changes in Policing.. for instance forensics, line-ups, smoking & drinking on the job, interviewing suspects, sexist attitudes, etc,... how he tries to adapt to policing & life without the things that we have now that we take for granted..it's not really that long ago afterall..
An example ...they have a suspect and are closing in on him. He tells one of his colleagues to wait there and asks him for his police radio. The officer gives him a look opens his jacket and pulls out..a whistle!!! ROFL.. It's full of gems like that :-)
Reading this back, it may appear that I do nothing now but watch the TV..LOL! I don't though ..honest Officer..they are on at different times..and...LOL! I do have to admit that I do watch more than I have done in a while..not so much to keep me on-line now.
Oooo..before I stop rambling.. I had to watch the premier of Close To Home, because of Christian Kane. It was okay, but not enough CK to keep me interested. BUT..the opening shot of the series..my heart jumped and time stood still...Lindsey ATS season 5 , walks out of his house picks up the newspaper, goes back in the house, kisses his wife and child!!!!!! Yep his character really did that..lol!
And now I will shut up ;-)
