For the sake of my own sanity..or what's left of it...LOL!, with a few exceptions I'm not going to be reading your SPN episode reviews anymore. Sorry!

Unlike other posts where you can get an idea what you are going to be reading if you click on the cut, because of the outcry over being spoiled.. with episode reviews you can't.

And by then it's too late.

I don't expect everyone to like every episode..I don't myself! I don't expect everyone to share the same views on what they have seen! But..

But yesterday...the Titanic would have sunk under the weight of the negativity that I read! At least four of you are close to never watching SPN again, another was whingeing about it without even having watched it! And from some of the comments and those of your friends ..I found myself thinking WTF?..are we even watching the same programme anymore!

So as well as sinking the Titanic, my mood sank as well. I have enough trouble trying to keep that up anyway..without having all the enjoyment I found sucked right out of it.
Not only that it sends my will to be creative right out the window..and that is an outlet for me.

It makes me sad as well, that because SPN is the only programme I download, I don't get to squee or not with you over others that we share an interest in. When i see them, generally you are pass that point.

I really was close to hitting the defriend button last night, I slept on it and didn't and I'll sleep on it some more. But to be honest, if you don't like SPN anymore, or aren't going to watch it anymore and you don't comment on my posts anyway..what's the point on staying on each others lists?

If anyone wants to defriend me over this, or anything else, then fair enough, please do so.

Okay, end of me moaning..you can uncover your eyes..or unblock your ears now ;-)

Stands up and claps at this. There have been some iffy episodes lately but I thought this week's episode was amazing. And VERY Season one. And the ending? I thought it was very old school SPN. I wish they'd do more like this.

I've stopped reading the reviews when someone on my FList complained about the freshly poured cement walkway.

I don't think this will make you feel better, but people wouldn't be so vocal about a show they didn't care about. There are other shows that I watch and if I don't like an episode,I quickly just forget about it. I don't talk about it,don't really care. When you see something on a show that you truly love and care about the characters, people tend to get vocal.

I only read Val's reviews, because I like them. I have stopped reading other reviews in Season 2 I believe, for the same reason that they were spoiling my fun.

I'm thankful that the show takes me to another world and takes my mind off of RealLife stuff. I'm thankful for Kripke writing the stories with the help of others and Jensen and Jared making those stories visible with the help of others and the whole production team. I don't get the whining. People should not be so ungrateful and if you don't like the show, then don't watch it.

Please don't let the so-called fans ruin your mood honey. It's a good thing that you are not reading the reviews anymore. I'm certain it will help. *hugs*

I rarely read the review and never write any. If I do it's usually about the little things (Sam sleeping in the car \o/)
I love the show, and so what if an epi or two arent as great as the rest. Life isnt always perfect and we dont give up on it.

People are just acting childish, it's their problem :)

This show is supposed to make us all happy. We can't all agree what's the best or not so good episode of course but negativity and bashing is the worst of everything.
It's your right to not like an episode, hun. I think the whiners should change fandom and stay away.

This is something that Mini-moue and I have talked about before - maybe we should have an english girls squee forum or something - like a reaction post where we can all agree to watch at the same time and only positive comments and squee are allowed. For the record I love the show as much as ever and i loved the ep - so if you want to join up with me to watch and squee togehter on a friday then that'd be great :D

Honestly, I stop reading any review after the first *I was so dissapointed* or *I really hate this show*, but often it's already too late. I really feel your pain, because I was so excited that the hiatus was finally over and I was totally creeped out by the ep (in my universe that's a very good thing, lol) and then all the negativity.... :(
I try to let this not bother me but that's not easy. *HUGS*

I decided to stop reading reviews a while back, as it was just bringing me down, especially all the Sam-hate. People are entitled to their opinions, but I just can't get why they watch the show if they're not enjoying it anymore, unless they just enjoy bashing it. I've got the odd complaint myself, it isn't perfect, but I still love it and I still love the boys, and I'm not going to let someone else's gripes interfere with my enjoyment of the show. So I'm right with you, Jo. Don't read, just watch. I second violetknights' comment as well! xxx

Earlier in the season it happened once on a much less scale and I thought then not to read them..silly me thought peeps would be glad to see the boys back after the hiatus! I shan't make that mistake again! I was really disappointed that this was my flist and not the boards etc which I don't read anyhow.

I haven't seen much Sam hate luckily, usually my flisters are pretty fair even when they favour more one than the other. You know Dean is always going to own my soul, but I do love Sam so I don't speak ill of him..and truthfully I don't see any need too!!! It's always been about both of them for me.

Sweetie it is your journal, your opinion and I can't say that I disagree. I couldn't understand the huge negativity either.

But, I would definitely recommend reading dodger_winslow's episode meta. It was fascinating. She does an amazing job of explaining just why this episode was so pivotal. If you haven't already seen it, here is the link.

Jo - you're one of the few reviewers/commenters I read, and I'm with you on the 'if you don't like it, why are you watching?' feeling. A couple of the things I've read...I, too, wonder if we're watching the same show.

Don't let 'em get you down though. You're one of the more talented (and nice!) people in fandom, and I would miss you if you went away, which is why *I'm* not going away. I friended you for a reason - I like your style.

Maybe it's because I'm new to the fandom this season, and I don't have all the back story to weigh me down, but I'm loving what I'm seeing. Every episode is exciting and fun for me. No defriending here.

I'm familiar with old fans growing tired of a fandom, but I always felt the way you do. If you don't like it anymore, please find another show and leave us to our enjoyment. *hugs*

I'm so sorry that the negativity is getting you down, Jo. *hugs* I've been there myself with other episodes, but I didn't notice too much negativity on my own flist over this particular ep, although I have gotten the impression that some people really hated it. I can't understand why. I loved the episode. I was dancing, I loved it so much... It had some problems and issues that I would change if I could, but all things considered, I thought it was a fine episode. But I haven't written an episode review because that would take some kind of thinking while watching and I just haven't been up to that kind of effort yet.

We don't know each other well, but I like what you have to say. I think enjoyment in any fandom is best found through sharing pics, fanfiction, art and such. There's no rule that says anyone has to read opinion boards or reviews to be a part of the fun. I've wondered a great deal after lurking about the SPN fandom why it is that there is so much emphasis put on what others think and how that affects a fan's enjoyment or disappointment. The most important and valid opinion or feeling about an episode is your own. That's what matters most. :-)

I definitely understand your frustration. Despite episodes that I haven't enjoyed as much as other people have, I don't think I'll ever stop watching the show. I've occasionally disagreed on things about the show, but I like seeing what other people think because it gets me thinking about things I hadn't seen.

Anyway, for people who go out of their way to be like THE SHOW IS GOING DOWNHILL, I rather ignore them and would rather they stay out of my sandbox. It's not cool to ruin the show for other people. I hope you feel better soon ♥

I plan to post something on my own LJ asking those who no longer like SUPERNATURAL to please defriend ME, since I am in this fandom for THIS SHOW and if my "friends" aren't, I'd prefer they defriend me.

I love SUPERNATURAL and all the negative remarks I've heard about this ep, 11, and 9 and 10 before the hiatus make me want to leave online fandom altogether! Frankly, I think I liked it better when I was ignorant during all of season 1 and much of season 2. I didn't seek out online fandom for SPN until after I'd seen "Born Under a Bad Sign," which is when I realized I was CRAZY about the show and really wanted to dive into it and share it with others.

However, once WANK became a big part of the deal, then there was the giant Rubela brouhaha, I seriously began to wonder--am I still happy in this fandom? I made it a vow to stay away from Television Without Pity, because the wank over there hurt my soul. I left a couple of lists for the same reason.

I'm not saying I expect a Pollyanna world, folks. SUPERNATURAL is not perfect. I admitted as such in my own review of Thursday night's episode. However, it was not terrible, and certainly not awful enough to make me stop watching the show altogether! I LOVED eps 9 and 10, and if you didn't, you're entitled to your opinion, just as I am! If you want to leave fandom, please go. But don't try to convince others that you're right and drag them away with you. Let them make up their own minds.

As far as I'm concerned, SUPERNATURAL is the best things that has happened to television, and to me, in a very long time. If you no longer feel the same, please defriend me, with no hard feelings!

With you a hundred percent. I posted pretty much the same thing in my journal and noticed about three more on my flist. It's just pointless to argue opinion whether it's founded or not.

I totally agree there should be a comm just for positive comments. Every constructive criticism course I've ever taken has taught me to find and point out what's good in everything even if it's hard to find. It's there. People just have their heads set not to see it.

Oh man! i'm glad i'm not the only one who was sad that everyone seemed hated this new episode so much. it was so depressing! since I liked it and wanted to jump around with other fan!girls in glee. :D

Thing is, no episode can be perfect, so I take 'em as I find 'em. I didn't hate the ep by a long shot, nor have I hated any ep this season unlike others. Do I think they could have done better or changed things, yeah of course, but what do I know :) I am just so glad to have the boys back.

I have been reading reviews each week and find that they do change your feel for the show you are about to watch, so I am going to stay away for awhile and let the show come to me new and sparkling and see it from only my eyes.

This "too much Dean Dean Dean' 'oh god no, no more Sam Sam Sam' thing is getting so tiresome. I am a Dean girl I know, but the boys aren't griping about their roles and where they are going, so why are we.

Damn straight... Sometime I have the feeling that this fandom doesn't see far than the boys beautiful faces... "It became too dark, Dean crying too much" BLAH BLAH BLAH. This show getting more and more serious, and I love it! I love every single episode! I love the humanity which they showing with every next episode. And here is time to say "If you are not enough grown up to look at the other side of the world better go and watch Cartoon Network or Gossip Girl." Thats it. Don't get angry because of some lame opinion... Some people really can't get the story and behind Dean and Sam's faces. Some people are just stupid...After all no one put a gun over their heads and forcing them to watch the show.
